MACON, Ga. – CBS television college basketball analyst Clark Kellogg – perhaps one of the most recognizable faces in the coverage of college basketball - served as the keynote speaker as Mercer University presented its third annual Basketball Tip-Off Banquet on Tuesday evening in the University Center. Kellogg gave his remarks before a crowd of more than 400 Bears’ basketball faithful gathered for the event.

The Tip-Off Banquet serves as the unofficial beginning to basketball season on the MU campus.

The evening included a buffet dinner with tables set on the UC floor, as well as remarks from MU President William D. Underwood, Director of Athletics Jim Cole and Mercer Athletics Foundation President John Collier. Mercer women’s basketball head coach Susie Gardner and men’s basketball head coach Bob Hoffman both introduced their respective squads, as well.

Kellogg’s remarks revolved around winning with character. Kellogg – who is also the Vice President of Player Relations with the Indiana Pacers – recounted his personal journey through the Ohio State University to being a number one pick in the NBA draft and from how chronic knee problems cut short a promising professional career to how he has enjoyed a television broadcast career now spanning two decades. He has become a staple in television coverage of the NCAA Final Four.

Kellogg also explained the role that his Faith played in guiding his decisions along the way in his life.
