Softball Hosts Middle Georgia in Double Header on Saturday

MACON, Ga. -- The Mercer women’s softball team will play a double-header as part of its eight-game fall schedule against Middle Georgia beginning on Saturday Oct. 17 at 12 p.m. The Bears continue work for the 2010 season through the month of October, with the remaining fall schedule being played out at Sikes Field in Macon.
Mercer is coming off its best season in program history in 2009 amassing 40 overall wins and 14 in A-Sun conference play. Junior standout pitcher Jenni Holtz returns for the Bears and will look to improve upon her record setting season last year.
Holtz was a first-team All A-Sun selection in 2009, by holding down the top ERA in the A-Sun with at least 15 games started last year. Her 23 wins also led the conference and set the program standard at Mercer.
The Bears will finish off the double-header at 2 p.m. followed by the Celebrity Grand Slam Softball Game at 6:30 p.m.
