Crawford Drafted by Los Angeles Angels

MACON, Ga. – Mercer baseball standout Matt Crawford was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the 23rd round of Major League Baseball’s amateur draft on Friday.
Crawford, a native of Waycross, Ga., was the team’s catalyst at the top of the order the last two seasons after transferring from Gordon Junior College. During his senior campaign, he led the squad with 22 stolen bases and tied for the lead with 45 runs scored. Crawford’s .341 batting average was second on the squad to go along with 11 doubles, three triples, 22 RBI and a .409 on-base percentage.
Crawford also played tremendous defense in the outfield committing only four errors in 227 chances over his career while making numerous spectacular catches.
